A deconstruction donation appraisal is the appraisal of building materials salvaged from a deconstructed structure. This type of appraisal is typically utilized when the owner of the structure chooses to donate the building materials to a qualified non-profit and the total value of the materials exceeds $5,000.
Is it time to remodel or are you building a new home? Have you considered deconstruction rather than demolishing? If you choose deconstruction the materials from your home may be donated to a non profit recycling company instead of ending up in a landfill. You would be eligible for a tax deduction to help offset the costs of deconstruction. You end up with a tax donation and help green the earth at the same time.
More than 10 tons of debris comes out of the average home. By diverting that debris to recycling and salvaging reusable building materials, up to 85% of debris could avoid being put in landfills. Which not only saves the planet, but gives you a tax donation as well!
With such a high demand for environmentally friendly projects, recycling and deconstruction is a great way to make a brighter future for our children.
The items donated are tax deductible however if the value of the materials exceeds $5000 per item or similar group of items they must be appraised by an IRS qualified appraiser.
